Weiss Barber & Beauty Supply in Wichita, Kansas was founded by Leonard and Juanita Weiss in 1952.  Leonard and Juanita operated the business from their garage until 1957 when they out grew their accommodations.  Leonard decided to try retirement in 1972 when he sold the store to his daughter, Carolyn, and son-in-law, Harvey Unruh. Leonard didn’t like retirement so he kept some of his route through Southeast and Eastern Kansas.  Carolyn passed away in 1985 and Harvey continued to operate the business by himself until his passing in 1992.  That’s when I, Terry Unruh, inherited the business from my father. 

Over the years I have come to know several barbers in the state of Kansas and abroad through hair cutting shows and clinics and being on the road as a salesman for several years in the 1970’s.  I took a hiatus away from the barber supply business for a few years but, now, my wife Jeanette and I have been operating the business as a family affair once again.

Although some things have changed over the years others have not.  Weiss Barber Supply still offers the same quality of friendly service as we did in the 1950’s though the ‘90’s and into the new Millennium.
